Orange Shirt Day is September 30

September 30 is Orange Shirt Day, a day set aside to recognize the 150,000 Indigenous students who attended Canada’s Indian Residential Schools between the 1800’s and 1996 when the last school closed. Please wear orange on September 30 to be part of Reconciliation.

As part of Orange Shirt Day, we have a bulletin board installation with information about residential schools and Phyllis Wagstaff (who is the inspiration for orange Shirt Day). We will also have a school wide lunch of chili and bannock.
